The alternatives to one built on Empires of course is a world built on the will of the people. From the level of country participation in world related issues, this means autonomous nations, free to trade with whichever countries it chooses, free to decline from trade, free to exist without debt to other nations.

Obviously such notions require planning and thought. It is not the case that if the U.S. empire were to fall the world would plunge into a state of disarray or chaos, but planning ahead would ensure that the same traps and pitfalls were not met the second time around. The traps and pitfalls relate as always to the treatment of people, minorities, and majorities around the world.

There must be a genuine desire for philanthropic actions towards countries with less resources, and towards people with fewer voices in order to make such a people-rule system work.

Therefore, there is a need to not just plan the political and social frameworks of future non-capitalist governments, but to find ways to implement them with fairness for all people.
